The collection held by Aberdeenshire Library and Information Service Local History Department aims to provide comprehensive coverage of all aspects of Aberdeenshire, history, geography, biography, literature and culture. The principle collections consist of books, newspapers, maps and microfilm material (primarily genealogical, parish registers and census).

Collection description:
East Dunbartonshire Archives exists to collect, preserve and make available to the public the records of East Dunbartonshire. Archive holdings date back to the 15th century, and include documents, photographs, maps, plans, and audio-visual material.

The oral history contributors were all local people from the East Dunbartonshire area. During the war they lived in either Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie or Glasgow. The strength of the collection lies in the details the contributors recall of life on the Home Front in these areas.

West Lothian History and Amenity Society - Where were you when Spitfires flew? Life on the Home Front: a collection of stories by some of the West Lothian residents who kept the home fires burning, compiled by members of the West Lothian History and Amenity Society. (WLHAS, 2005) Library classification number - WL 940.531
(Booklet based on oral history recordings of local people on their experiences mainly on the Home Front during the Second World War. The oral history recordings on which the booklet is based were not retained.) A fuller summary of each interview is also available for reference at the West Lothian Local History Library.
